lydia ievins, nyckelharpa, 5-string fiddle
Andrea Larson, fiddle, voice
Swedish folk music – played, sung, danced – is irresistible. Its fetching lilt and wonderful rhythmic pulse lend it wings to soar and allow it to utterly captivate us. String players lydia ievins
& Andrea Larson
have always surrounded themselves with Swedish music. They then spent a full year studying in the center of the nyckelharpa universe, at Sweden's revered Eric Sahlström Institute, hours north of Uppsala. They returned to these shores with a powerful command of the music, not to mention a fine ability to kindle the fire in us, their listeners. Won't you join us for an intimate afternoon with two masterful performers on the fiddle and Sweden's national instrument, the nyckelharpa? An excellent antidote to the dark season of our year.
(You can look up just what the nyckelharpa is, or you can come and experience live. Entirely your call, of course!)
$10 per person. Cash or check at the door or purchase your tickets in advance by clicking on the link below. Age 18 and under admitted for free.
