Music Matters Series: Cembalo Solo Performance with Dylan Sauerwald

Acclaimed Boston harpsichordist Dylan Sauerwald has a rare and intriguing program up his sleeve. Imagine late-17th-century music that highlights the powerful clash of French and Italian influence in the great palaces of Vienna at a dynamic moment in history. Imagine, too, a colorful, robust Italian harpsichord to perfectly paint this elegant cultural brawl in sweeping, brilliant hues. Two gifted Viennese composers epitomized these national styles: Johann Kaspar Kerll, a student of Frescobaldi, and Georg Muffat, who returned from Paris bursting with inspiration by Jean-Baptiste Lully.
