We, Music Matters, have shamefully neglected vocal music. There, our confession!
We put that omission right with the long-anticipated appearance of acclaimed American-French soprano Diana Higbee and her exceptional collaborator, Anne-Lise St.-Amans. As you see, their four sets of songs and solos penetrate to the heart of the French soul, revel in Mozart's insight into the minds and hearts of the unforgettable women in his Marriage of Figaro, and find magnificent fulfillment in our native voice at its most touching.
This will also be the La Grua Center début of the 1886 Chickering concert grand, in summertime residence while our 1922 Mason & Hamlin undergoes renovation. Grieg and Liszt were among the pianist-composers who wrote glowingly of the subtlety and transparency of these prize-winning instruments. Through October, you will be able to encounter this extraordinary 19th-century original in five special Music Matters concerts.
