Imagine Scholar's Megan O'Neill on Education in Rural Africa

Megan O'Neill has spent the last 3 years working with Imagine Scholar. A native of Connecticut, she received a degree in Africana Studies from Dickinson College and soon thereafter moved to the Nkomazi region of South Africa. With Imagine Scholar, Megan spends her time facilitating classes with high school students about reading and writing, mentoring students through the university application process, and raising money for the organization.

Imagine Scholar is an educational non-profit organization based in the Nkomazi region of South Africa. The organization's innovative and sustainable approach to education is creating meaningful impact in the local community. Through working with high-achieving, low-income secondary school students on development of leadership, critical thinking, and community-mindedness, we aim to build Africa's next generation of change makers.
