Music Matters: Bach Keyboard Partitas on Florentine Baroque Piano

with Andrew Willis

J.S. Bach Six Keyboard Partitas
Andrew Willis, Florentine Baroque piano

J.S. Bach The Six Keyboard Partitas, BWV 825-830, complete in two recitals

Bach and his German contemporaries first heard and played what we today call the Baroque piano in the 1730s. Over the decade of intense instrumental development that followed, this new instrument – invented in Florence in the 1690s – began to astonish musicians and listeners. Frederick the Great commissioned thirteen of them!

Bach's three great sets of keyboard suites culminate in his brilliant, deeply moving Partitas. Join us for two full-length recitals by brilliant pianist Andrew Willis for New England's very first traversal of all six in on Baroque piano. Copies of his double album of the works will be available, as well.

Our performance platform will assure excellent audibility and clear sight lines.
