Stonington Historical Society Presents: Stonington and the American Revolution

with Glenn Gordinier

The American Revolution created the world's oldest constitutional government.  It presaged the overthrow of kingdoms and empires, and has served as an exemplar that others have striven to emulate.  All of this is laudatory, yet that revolution's legacy remains unfulfilled.  This presentation will consider the origins of the American Revolution, the struggles that resulted in the establishment of our national government, its legacy, and Stonington's involvement therewith.

Glenn S. Gordinier, PhD is the Robert G. Albion Historian at Mystic Seaport, and a member of the faculty at the University of Connecticut.  He is also a resident of Stonington, and a member of the board of trustees of the Stonington Historical Society.
