Benita Meshulam & Edith Kraft
1886 Chickering concert grand
& 1922 Mason & Hamlin grand
Mozart Sonata in D, K.448
Schubert Allegro in a, D.947 "Lebensstürme"
Dvorák Slavonic Dances
It's taken us a decade to present our first Music Matters piano duo recital: two superb pianists at two exceptional grands. Acclaimed New York pianists Benita Meshulam and Edith Kraft have their own solo and teaching careers, but we meet them here as a tip-top duo. Mozart's only two-piano sonata, Schubert's probing Lebensstürme, and some of Dvorák's glorious Slavonic Dances will summon every single color, hue, and dynamic nuance from the two instruments. Benita and Edith will conclude with a choice garland of world-wise, sassy, wickedly elegant Piazzolla Tangos.
This will also be the début of the 1886 Chickering concert grand in its restored 19th-c. finish. The gleaming rosewood and those sumptuous carvings will at last be on full display!
