A Quartet of Piano Trios

The Hermitage houses one of the great art collections of the world. This evening, the Hermitage Piano Trio, also hailing from St. Petersburg, opens wide a different treasure chest indeed. Four composers famous for their other music here turn their hands to eliciting musical chiaroscuro – the subtle interplay of dark and light – in four tremendously appealing piano trios. The La Grua Center's beautiful 1922 Mason & Hamlin grand is an ideal partner to cello and violin in these evocative works. (Spoiler: our afternoon ends with a Bolero, a Habanera, and sultry gypsy Seguidillas.) Wine reception to follow.
