As we pivot to the new environment confronting us, please “join us” virtually on Saturday, June 6, at 5 p.m. during our usual Music Matters time slot and listen to a recorded performance from last year on our YouTube channel. If the timing doesn’t suit your schedule, please know that we will upload the recording on Saturday afternoon and you can listen at your leisure.
All of us at La Grua Center are deeply appreciative to Andrew Willis for allowing us to make his concert from last year available to you online for free (donations are always happily accepted), and to Ayla Fox and Christopher Greenleaf for their production expertise.
About the concert:
J.S. Bach The Six Keyboard Partitas, BWV 825-830, part 2
In our début Music Matters video, back in April, we heard pianist Andrew Willis
play three of Bach's Six Keyboard Partitas
on his full-blooded, vibrant Baroque piano. He returns to the (virtual) fray with a further pair of these compelling Bach suites: No. 3 in a, and No. 5 in G. As before, an expansive succession of concert and recording session photos provides visual accompaniment to the scores. We'll also tell the story of this, the first piano in the history of music. Please join us once more for a "video without video" that stretches the bounds of online music!
