Stonington Borough’s nonprofit cultural center presenting concerts, lectures, and art exhibitions to our region.

COVID-19: Due to the recent changing guidance from the CDC and our state’s Department of Public Health, going forward we will be requiring masks for our audience members at all indoor concerts and lectures, as well as for those who visit our art exhibitions and office. This is disappointing news to all of us who are vaccinated, but when the pandemic began, we stated that our first priority is the safety of our audience, artists, staff, and volunteers. That commitment continues, as we pay close attention to shifting recommendations.

Current Exhibit: Coming Out for Art.

We have dedicated gallery hours on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoons 1-4pm (excepting holidays and holiday weekends), during which times a staff member or volunteer will be available. People may also make an appointment to see the show, or can generally drop by for independent viewing weekdays during regular business hours. Note that since we are a small organization, these hours are occasionally subject to change. Please call ahead if you plan to visit outside of the dedicated gallery hours.

    As a supporter of the La Grua Center, I can't think of a better resource that provides the Stonington community a wide variety of intellectual, musical, and artistic events. Additionally, the use of the center for nutrition, dancing, exercise and yoga classes is yet another way to strengthen the community while improving its members health and welfare. Though we are not year round residents of Stonington, my husband and I have taken advantage of  the many exceptional talks and musical events along with the yoga classes.

    The Center's attention to detail and obvious appreciation of artwork make exhibiting an easy and enjoyable experience. I especially appreciate the time and effort put into hanging the art pieces.     I joined the La Grua Center as a volunteer a couple of years ago.  I could never have anticipated  the impact this wonderful facility would have on the Boro and surrounding areas. To have access to world class musicians, art exhibits, interesting speakers as well as all of the other events and programs, is such a gift to our community.  We are so fortunate and I am thrilled to be a part of it!

    La Grua Center is the jewel box of the Borough.  Music, visual arts, dance, health, wellness, and education are just some of the jewels within.  It’s a wonderful and enriching resource for all.

    We are so very fortunate at Mystic Middle School to have the opportunity to have two of our select ensembles, jazz band and select singers perform in this beautiful hall.  The intimate setting, wonderful acoustics,  beautiful art adorning the walls, the set-up/break-down by all participants and of course the quality of well diverse performers makes this a memorable experience.  Our students are so honored and proud to perform at the La Grua Center, a special place in Stonington.
