Located next to Stonington Harbor in the historic foundry of the former Atwood Machine Company, La Grua Center is a gracious and beautiful venue for the arts, education, meetings, social occasions, and other community activities. It is the public space in the Stonington Commons residential community, with free parking in the lot at 32 Water Street.
The center seats 100 people theatre-style in the Great Room, and 150 people standing. The balcony accommodates an additional 48 people seated theater-style or 28 seated with tables.
This stone building with its tall deep-set windows and wooden beams is warm and inviting. Amenities include A/V equipment for films, concerts, and presentations; heating and air-conditioning; a small kitchen with refrigerator and sink; accessible restrooms; and coat storage. Folding tables and chairs are also available.
