Started during the pandemic, La Grua Center’s Postcard Art Project brings the whole community together. Over 100 artists sent in the first year’s theme, “A New World”, which captured the feelings in 2020 and 2021.
In our second year, over 150 artists – including students from area schools – participated in the theme, “Eye of the Beholder” and designed their postcards out of crayons, paints, photos, collage, and even wood! In 2023, our theme “Wish You Were Here!” our community taught us that a postcard could show a myriad of sentiments, from nostalgia to aspiration, encapsulating the essence of Stonington and our region through vivid imagery, heartfelt messages, and creative expressions that transcended mere words.
Select postcards from previous years are for sale in our lobby and at community events. Contact us if you would like to purchase during office hours.
You can view the postcards during regular gallery hours (W, F, Su afternoons from 1-4pm)
or by appointment.
Please note that sometimes gallery hours are subject to change and therefore
we recommend calling ahead.
