Revelry & Reality
Four-hands gems and fireworks by
Maurice Ravel, Christoph Willibald von Gluck,
Alexander Borodin, Bright Sheng, Fazil Say,
Maggie Ayotte, Victor Simon, Alfonso Peduto, and Shaun Choo
On the occasion of their second return to Stonington, Québecoise pianists Amélie Fortin and Marie-Christine Poirier and the 1886 Chickering concert grand will set off musical fireworks of a kind we’ve never heard. In a program spanning four centuries, they will explore composers’ and pianist-composers’ most evocative, colorful scores for piano duet, the thrilling collaboration of two players at one instrument. From Ravel’s polychrome masterpiece Rapsodie espagnole to Singaporean colorist Shaun Choo’s Fiestravaganza, this duo recital promises to be one of the most colorful Music Matters afternoons you can imagine. A really appealing extra: The duo will project both a vertical view of the Chickering’s keyboard and magical imagery by visual artist Alexandre Péloquin.
Nuit Blanche will last about 60′ and runs without an intermission.
$20 online tickets here; $25 at the door.
All seating is unreserved: first come, first served. Doors open 1/2 hour before the start of the concert. Please note that you don’t need a paper ticket; simply give your name at the door.
