Asiya Korepanova & Ilya Kazantsevpianos

*1886 Chickering concert grand and 1930 Mason & Hamlin

Two-piano works by Bach-Bindman, Brahms, Gershwin, Scriabin, Korepanova, Rachmaninoff

These two stellar, Russian-trained pianists of rare brilliance play together on tour. Coverage of their duo concerts draws every superlative in the critics’ descriptive quiver. In both original works and evocative transcriptions, Asiya Korepanova and Ilya Kazantsev weave sumptuously orchestral sonic tapestries, in which both opulence and razor-edge precision dazzle. While most Music Matters programs present scores related in style and period, Asiya’s and Ilya’s irresistible pastiche of colorful works contrasts eras, styles, and genres in ways we won’t soon forget.

Just six days ahead of the Winter Solstice, our two pianists will ignite sparks and light up the December sky!

This concert is generously sponsored by Christine McMasters.

Advance tickets $25 ONLINE ONLY. Click here.  There may be a limited number of tickets available at the door on a first come first served basis. Please note ALL seating is unreserved so please come early to ensure a good seat. Doors open at 4:30pm.

*Join us on Saturday, December 14, for our “Masterpieces for Two Pianos” concert, before we bid farewell to the 1886 Chickering concert grand piano. It has been our unique honor to feature the Chickering in many of our “Music Matters” concerts and we are grateful to have been a part of the Chickering’s musical journey. “Music Matters” will continue to showcase a variety of musical talent and instruments, including the Mason & Hamlin, a gift funded by generous donations from the community. La Grua Center remains committed as ever to its mission of engaging the community through arts and culture.
