The Genius of Brahms
The Rhapsodies, Ballades, and Fantasies
Pianist Constantine Finehouse is no stranger to the 1886 Chickering concert grand. He recorded a critically acclaimed album of Brahms’ violin sonatas on it and, during the late pandemic, journeyed often to Stonington to make videos and further recordings with this 19th-century Boston instrument. His interpretation of the great solo works of Johannes Brahms has become a legend. To launch Music Matters’ 15th concert season, he will evoke the very soul of Brahms’ most familiar and profound works, calling on the inexhaustible timbral and dynamic resources of a piano contemporary with their publication. Please join us for this solo recital by a lyrical, charismatic pianist whose series début we’ve long awaited!
This recital runs ca. 70′ and is without an intermission.
